Maine Botanical Garden Engagement Proposal Photos | New England Wedding Photographer

Engagement proposals are some of my all time favorite sessions to photograph. The excitement is incredible! This Maine Botanical Garden engagement proposal is one for the books!

Jay and Margaret met in March of 2013 in a small town bar. Margaret was out with friends and it was her last weekend in town. She was planning to move to Florida to get fresh start. Margaret remembers spotting Jay from across the bar and they both made eye contact. Jay says that Margaret “flipped” her hair and gave him a look…which she doesn’t remember doing! Neither one of them imaged finding their ‘person’ in a bar but that night set their relationship in motion.

Jay planned having their friend play a song for them as they walked into the proposal spot. It was the perfect touch! As they started to walk up, he began playing. As Jay and Margaret got closer, they started to slow dance to the song.

Working with Jay on their garden engagement proposal was incredible. Jay put so much thought into this moment was romantic. Picking the location for the proposal was not too difficult for Jay, as the coastal Maine Botanical Gardens have always been a favorite spot of theirs. They both love that it is close to the ocean, its elegance, vibrant flowers, and lush green trees that give it a woodsy feel. Jay knew that it was important to get this moment photographed. They had spoken about how they wanted this moment to be super intimate. Margaret had previously expressed to Jay that since it was going to be a private event, she wanted to be able to prove to her family that it actually happened by showing them photo evidence! SHE SAID YES!!

Seriously, how sweet are these two?! It was so amazing to have the time to do a mini engagement photo session for them while were were in the garden. It was the perfect way to celebrate their garden engagement proposal!
