I am so excited to share this sweet Hartford wedding with you today! Natasha and Steve are such a great couple and are so adorable together! Their story starts a few years ago when they were both working as engineers for the same company (they still work together!). Their company had a softball team for a local league and they both participated. Through the love of sports and having fun, it didn’t take long for these two to start their fun and energetic relationship.
The morning of the wedding, I met Natasha at her parents’ home outside of Hartford. It was so sweet to see Natasha get ready in her family home with her parents and bridesmaids. While I was with the ladies, Kate, my awesome second shooter, got to capture the boys learning how to tie bow ties and fold pocket squares.
Natasha has an attention to detail that is impeccable. Anyone who knows her, knows that she is always organized and anything she plans is perfect!
Natasha was very close to her grandmother, even though she was only present in spirit, Natasha wore her pearl necklace and her beaded headpiece to include her in the special day. Steve also proposed with Natasha’s grandmother’s ring, which is stunning and timeless.
In true Natasha fashion, Steve was given a sweet greeting card. Natasha has always loved greeting cards and is known to send the perfect greeting card for every occasion in her family and friends’ lives. When they got engaged, Steve’s proposal included a greeting card that was designed by him, and included the “Bouley Bears”.
When Natasha and Steve told me they booked the 1914 Bushnell Park vintage carousel for after the ceremony in downtown Hartford, I was instantly excited. I think every Hartford wedding should include this carousel! I wasn’t kidding earlier when I told you that have a fun and energetic relationship! This definitely was by far one of my favorite things ever! The music that the carousel also played made it hard not to have a constant smile on your face!
The Bushnell Park in downtown Hartford is so gorgeous. Between the infrastructure, greenery, and ponds it totally provided the best location for photos!
The architecture within Bushnell Park were essential to photograph in this Hartford wedding. Natasha’s dad showed us all the famous spots and we took full advantage of including them into Natasha and Steve’s portraits.
This part of the day was up in the air until about 5 minutes before it actually happened! The tug boat pulls a ferry across the Connecticut River, we knew that I would have no issues getting on the ferry but we didn’t know if the party bus would be as lucky. Thankfully it all worked out! The real reason why this was an important thing to include in the day was that the tug boat included “Cumberland” painted on one side, which is the town that Steve grew up in, and “Rocky Hill” was painted on the other side, Natasha’s hometown. Just like their marriage, this boat included joining both of their lives. Also, up until this moment, there was not a cloud in the sky, then as soon as we got on the ferry, the clouds rolled in for about 10 minutes! It was so incredibly perfect!
These two have some wicked sweet dances moves and are air guitar professionals!
Natasha’s dad’s toast had a way of bringing tears to Natasha’s eyes after about 30 seconds of him speaking.
The Bouley Bears made their appearance on the wedding cake!
To include their engineering background in their photos, they asked us to include a photo of this tunnel that was under the roadway!
