Cape Elizabeth Vow Renewal:
Surprise! Debby and John are my parents!!! They recently did their Cape Elizabeth vow renewal on their 40th wedding anniversary and I got to plan and capture it for them! Not only was it an honor to photograph my parents but it was even more special to plan this special ceremony and involve their closest friends and family. The vow renewal location of the ceremony was by far the easiest part of the entire process! Cape Elizabeth, especially Kettle Cove and Crescent Beach, has always been a place my family has enjoyed visiting since I can remember. Using Kettle Cove and Crescent Beach was the perfect location. Not only is it a special place but it is simply gorgeous.
When my parents got married one of the most important aspects of their wedding was to hire a great photographer and they did just that! They also didn’t only go all out getting a great photographer but they also made sure to get a gorgeous wedding album. Thank goodness they did this! I have looked through their wedding album at least a hundred times! They also brought it along with them to their Cape Elizabeth vow renewal and everyone got a chance to look back at their wedding day. I think my aunt and cousin’s comments about how much my parents and the times have changed was my favorite part!
This entire process, from planning to executing their celebration was so incredibly special for my parents and I. My parents’ day started very similar to any wedding day. My mom had her makeup done by her best friend and I did her hair – no, I am not a hair dresser by any means!! Having a guest list under 10 people made it possible for us to all met at the hotel and carpool over to Cape Elizabeth. My parents’ had a very small and intimate ceremony and then I took them to do portraits of the two of them. For people who are not crazy about getting their photos done…they did amazing. My parents are very much still in love after 40 years of marriage and it truly showed! After spending some time on the beach photographing them we headed back to the parking lot where we had a toast and then headed to dinner at local restaurant. I feel so incredibly lucky to have such amazing parents and that I was able to give them another special day to add to their love story.
