I don’t even know where to start with Brittany and Nick’s Shin Pond Wedding. You may have seen their sneak peek a few weeks back, if not click here. When I first met them, it was on Skype with just Nick because Brittany couldn’t make our first “meeting”. I will remember that he had a check list of things that he needed to ask per Brittany’s request. He didn’t do so great with writing things down so we ended up doing another Skype meeting with Brittany in attendance. We chatted, laughed and I met their fur baby, Luna. I knew from those two meetings that working with Brittany and Nick was going to be amazing. You may remember their engagement session from last fall, if not go check it out, they are the cutest (engagement session).
The plan for the beginning of the wedding day was to meet Brittany and the girls at her grandmother’s camp on Shin Pond. I managed to get there without getting lost, I believe that only happened because Brittany left awesome signs pointing in the directions I needed to drive to get there. (No GPS or cell phone service at Shin pond!) The first thing Brittany said to me was, “I’M GETTING MARRIED TODAY!” with the biggest grin on her face. This become the saying of the day especially when tears were about to roll out of her eyes.
All of her girls were so helpful and extremely nice. I couldn’t get over how excited and happy they were for Brittany. Even some of her bridesmaids cried when she put her gown on – talk about wonderful friends and sisters she has! From the camp the girls took a big party boat and headed to another family camp on the pond. Since Brittany’s family has many camps on Shin Pond the boys were in another camp getting ready. After the girls and I did photos at the camp the guys rolled in on the party boat while the girls hid. The best/funniest part of the guys on the boat was that Nick was blind folded and they kept him blind folded until he was off the dock and in a small path away from the camp – talk about trusting his friends.
The ceremony for Brittany and Nick was held in Houlton and was personal and intimate. Brittany’s family made a slide show of photos of Brittany and Nick growing up and photos from the years they were dating. It was a great personal touch and I think everyone enjoyed it. After the ceremony we headed to the dog kennel where they were keeping their beloved fur baby. I was so glad that they decided to do photos with her. She is such a huge part of their family and as someone who considers her dog as a child, I definitely agreed it had to happen. After cuddling and loving Luna we then got on a party boat and went around Shin Pond while the cocktail hour was going on. I have never done this before but holy was it fun! I think everyone should have a ride on a boat before their reception. It was relaxing and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. After cruising around on the party boat for a little while we headed to the reception which was held in Shin Pond Village. Their guests were definitely ready to party and did all night long (no joke until like 3 in the morning). Brittany is super passionate about dance and so they had an amazing choreographed first dance and her and her dad did a choreographed dance for their father-daughter dance. It isn’t every wedding that I get to see such awesome dancing! They did lifts and everything! It was so awesome and it had their guests cheering and smiling. I was lucky enough to spend the majority of their reception with them and I am so glad that they invited me to dance and have fun with them after my coverage time was up. It was so fun to spend time with them and their family and friends. They are super lucky to have such supportive and amazing people in their lives. I feel so lucky to have been part of their special day!
Brittany and Nick, I wish you the happiest life together and I cannot wait to see where your journey together is going to take you! Thank you for all of the amazing memories and being such amazing clients!
Brittany, Nick and I snuck into the photo booth together (and got photo bombed by their friends) later into the night. You won’t want to miss the photo at the end of the blog post!
Doing a first look with her dad was so important to Brittany. Her dad is the sweetest guy ever! He was also so helpful with everything!
I believe this was one of the, “I’m getting married today moments”
Brittany’s big sister is the best. She was so happy and supportive of Brittany during the entire day.
Yes, those are bobble heads of Brittany and Nick, I know awesome, right?!
I had to include one blooper from the day… Nick almost unsuccessfully gave Brittany a piggy back out of the swamp that I put them in. Thankfully, he didn’t drop her but he definitely got his shoes and socks muddy!
