I am so excited to share this Crescent Beach engagement proposal with you! Engagement proposals are not something that I shoot nearly as often as I would like. You will see from this proposal at Crescent Beach, just why I love them so much! Also, high-five to this couple for picking my favorite beach in Maine to get engaged at!
Growing up Nashua, NH together and attending high school at the same time, you would have thought this couple would have at least known of each other but nope! Despite Mike graduating with Alyssa’s brother they never met while attending school together.
It wasn’t until a Kentucky Derby fundraising event that they were first introduced to each other in May of 2014. Their first interaction was Mike calling Alyssa beautiful and asking her to help with the 50/50 raffle. Alyssa instantly thought he was single but in reality, he was ending a long-term relationship. After that night, their paths didn’t cross again until October 2014, when they went on their first date. By their second date, they both knew that there was long-term potential. Their relationship progressed quickly and it didn’t take very long for them to realize they wanted to spend forever together.
Finally now to the good stuff and the true reason you are probably even reading this blog post today! The epic engagement proposal! Alyssa and Mike spent the 4th of July weekend in Portland, ME for a concert. Mike decided since Alyssa had never been to Portland that they would stick around for an extra day and spend the time exploring Portland and at the beach.
Mike put so much thought into his proposal to Alyssa. Every single detail was perfectly planned out. The proposal itself was themed around the infinity symbol, in every aspect that Mike could possibly make it. When Mike and Alyssa first started dated, Mike gave Alyssa an infinity symbol bracelet for their first anniversary which she wears every day. The theme came directly from this bracelet. The infinity symbol was evident in their rental car, his infinity cologne, her custom engagement ring with the infinity symbol on the band, and the infinity symbol drawn in the sand where the proposal actually happened.
The proposal took place at Crescent Beach State Park, right next to the Inn by the Sea, which Mike had booked a room at to surprise Alyssa for after the proposal. With texting back and forth with Mike all day about details, the proposal was planned for sunset but because Mike’s nerves kicked in and fog rolled in quickly we pushed the proposal up. The fog was absolutely gorgeous and gave the proposal an even more dreamy feel.
According to Alyssa and Mike, the beach had been packed that day… thankfully by early evening the crowds had left and these two were left with an almost empty beach adding the romantic and intimate feel their proposal had.
Alyssa and Mike are my neighbors so naturally hiding from Alyssa was extremely difficult! Due to her knowing me, I had to wear a huge sunhat and sunglasses all while hiding my camera in a beach tote. I even had to lie to Alyssa when she asked me to take care of her dogs because her and Mike were going to be home late but in all, I was successful at camouflaging myself and this was the moment when Alyssa saw me!
Due to not knowing what was in store for her evening, Alyssa wasn’t prepared for photos! After spending the day at Crescent Beach and the with the humidity and heat, Alyssa freshened herself up quickly on the beach.
Mike custom designed the engagement ring and after 10 revisions, this is Alyssa’s engagement ring – gorgeous!
To convince Alyssa to walk down the beach to the infinity symbol and to where I was hiding, Mike told her she needed to find a white flat rock to bring home as a souvenir of their weekend. He had high hopes that this would stall her and make her not question the additional time they were spending on the beach.
The excitement these two had during this time was one that I wish I could photograph ALL the time. Literally the happiest people on earth!
Inn by the Sea created this gorgeous cheese platter with infinity chips to go along with the infinity theme.
